Adaptation, the only festival of cinema and literature in Ireland or Britain takes place for its sixth year in Dromahair. This year we celebrate the work of John LeCarré, showing a retrospective of rare television, feature films and talks by writers and directors.

8.00pm John Irvin - Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy
John Irvin directed the classic 1979 TV series Tinker, tailor,
Soldier, Spy starring Alec Guiness and the cream of british acting talent. The series continues to captivate audiences to this day. In this two hour presentation, John Irvin will guide us through the making of the series illustrated with clips.

An American Actress with a penchant for lying is forceably recruited by Mosad, the Israeli intelligence agency to trap a Palestinian bomber, by pretending to be the girlfriend of his dead brother.

BBC Radio 4 dramatised the complete George Smiley novels over recent years. Jeremy Howe, head of drama for BBC Radio 4, will tell us the story behind making the series and the character that is central to Le Carre's work.

Introduced by Jeremy Howe. British agent Alec Leamas refuses to come in from the cold war during the 1960s, choosing to face another mission, which may prove to be his final one.

Rare archive screening. Otto Hoffman made for West Berlin just prior to construction of the Berlin Wall, his father remained in the Eastern Sector. Word reaches Otto that his father has died, and he is to travel to the East to collect the body for burial, only to discover that his father is alive and well.

screenwriters in their own right. They have both adapted their own work to screen famously with Divorcing Jack and Resurrection Man. Colin and Eoin will share their experiences of adaptation.
